MANSFIELD, OHIO. A very important part of the mission of The Renaissance Performing Arts Association is to "enlighten and enhance lives through education and outreach in the community and beyond". Through the generosity of The Fran and Warren Rupp Foundation, this important part of the mission will take a big step on Thursday, June 26, 2008 with ARTS IN ACTION, a forum to motivate, inspire, excite, and inform. The full day conference will begin at 8AM and will be held in the historic Renaissance Theatre and The Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites next door to the theatre. The keynote speaker will be Tony and Emmy Award winning actress Jane Alexander. Ms. Alexander was also the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts from 1993 through 1997. Other speakers on the agenda will be announced soon. The fee for ARTS IN ACTION is $25 per person and will include lunch. Participants may register beginning Monday, March 3, 2008 by calling The Renaissance Theatre at 419-522-2726, Monday - Friday, 10AM - 5PM, or online at www.mansfieldtickets.com.
Following the theme Frames...Bridges...Sparks, ARTS IN ACTION will convene with reflection on the importance of arts education in schools and proceed to talk about the present state of the arts. The motivating workshops will offer participants the opportunity to network and learn about recent developments in the field of community arts. Brainstorming discussions will be held on the importance of how these partnerships can promote creative development, foster cross-cultural conversations and understanding, and strengthen building for social change by working together through arts initiatives. New possibilities for collaboration will be envisioned, sparking excitement, change and the celebration of the arts.
ARTS IN ACTION is geared to those that have a love the arts, all educators, those working in arts venues, and business professionals with the desire to make an impact on arts and arts education in their community. An area for arts exhibitors to set up their displays is also available. Space is limited so interested parties should call The Renaissance Theatre at 419-522-2726, ext. 248, to reserve a location as soon as possible.
The Renaissance Performing Arts Association is thrilled to be able to offer ARTS IN ACTION to further the organizations educational outreach program.
